Product Specifications:
Aclara mask is made of 75% PLA Biodegradable material and special Aclara layer electrospun nanofiber fused with Rose bengal filters particulate material as small as 0.3 μm
The "Aclara Layer" is an electro-spun nanofiber layer that is fused with rose bengal that is light-activated. The technology was developed, designed, and tested by material scientists from one of America's top universities, the George Washington University (patent pending). All Aclarawell masks & respirators featuring the "Aclara Layer" are reusable until the activated layer fades to white. Reuse of this product helps reduce plastic waste when compared to traditional masks!
What are the dimensions of this mask? What are the available sizes?
Kids: 170mm x 69mm
Adults: 202mm x 81 mm
Available in both Adults and Kids size.
Aclara masks have an adjustable nose bridge which gives you a comfortable fit and avoids any gaps. You can further improve the fit with the help of our Mask Comfort Fit Set which consists of four mask ear loop toggles and one ear saver.
Where are these masks made?
These masks are made in USA FDA registered, ISO 13485 facility.
What materials are the masks made from?
Pink: 1 layer of PLA spunbond 35 GSM white, 1 Aclarawell layer of 32 GSM (outside),
Black: 1 layer of PLA spunbond white, 1 Aclarawell layer of 32 GSM (outside), 1 layer of PLA spunbond 35 GSM Black.
How often can you use this mask and when to change?
These masks can be used multi times until you see the color Pink (outer layer in Pink version and Skin/Inside layer in the Black Version) change into off white / Dull white.
For more clear information and to identify the stage of your mask please follow instructions provided in the card sent along with your Aclara Mask.
What are the filtration capabilities of these masks?
BFE and PFE - 98% +
Test Reports:
What’s the shelf life for these masks?
Shelf life for these masks is 3 years from the date of manufacturing.
Why choose the Aclara masks?
Aclarawell masks & respirators are manufactured using the latest technological advances in electrospun nanofibers, which make for an incredibly tight weave when compared to traditional meltblown. Nanofibers capture particles as small as 0.30 µm (microns or micrometer) mechanically and do not require electrostatic "charging" to assist in the capture of particles. For reference, aerosolized particles are <5µm
The high-tech "Aclara Layer" allows for a highly breathable, fully functioning mask & respirator. You can simply breathe easier in our respirator products while still maintaining a high level of filtration.
How are these masks tested?
These masks have been tasted based on the GB 2626-2019 KN95 standard set by China.
How do we dispose of these masks?
Everything except the ear loops in the mask are fully recyclable. Please return these masks to VIDA using the return label. VIDA will help recycle these masks for you.
What kind of packaging does this mask come in?
These masks come in recyclable PPE packaging.
How does VIDA help the Planet?
VIDA is helping the planet by reducing the waste produced by the disposal of masks and recycling them and converting them into more useful products.
How are we making sure our Aclara masks are not exposed to light when in transit or stored?
Masks are promptly stamped and packaged after production. They are always stored in dark containers and dark bags during production.
Can you kindly share more insights on how light exposure affects the efficacy of the Aclara masks?
Aclara masks were researched and engineered to deliver high performance air filtration with visible light-activated anti-viral properties. Light exposure affects the rose bangle in the e-spun nanofibers.
Can you please share the actual photos showing the ideal colors of each mask and maybe share a photo of when it is no longer good for use?
Photos are hard to show the differences, the color change is gradual. The color on the website may be enhanced for marketing purposes.
If these faded out of the package, how much longer life would they have?
The product should be kept away from light sources; product will continue to be effective after fading. Fading indicator is simply based on visible light. Product is a light to pale color to begin with.
Does the color really indicate effectiveness?
The colorant is actually an anti-bacterial additive that fades with exposure to light, however the mask itself is an electro spun nanofiber that remains effective until the filter is saturated which depends on usage.
It doesn't seem like light exposure should cause a mask to become ineffective or is that specific to this type of material? Does the level of protection deteriorate as it gradually changes color?
The light exposure affects the rose bangle additive in the spun nanofiber and helps to provide timed usage based on visible light. The filter itself is mechanical and much smaller than normal masks which should stay efficient based on saturation.
What's the difference between Nanofibers and traditional meltblown?
Aclara masks & respirators are manufactured using the latest technological advances in electrospun nanofibers, which make for an incredibly tight weave when compared to traditional meltblown. Nanofibers capture particles as small as 0.30 µm (microns or micrometer) mechanically and do not require electrostatic "charging" to assist in the capture of particles.
Can I reuse my Aclara mask?
Yes, we make the world’s first reusable respirators! Using our patent-pending technology (see more) means that with exposure to normal light, you can reuse your mask for approximately 5 days. Replace your mask when pink color has faded or if it obviously soiled.
I have a sensitive skin, do you recommend this mask?
Aclara masks are latex-free and have been tested by the national SGS testing lab and deemed non-toxic.
SGS toxicological testing services determine if a product may be toxic or pose a risk to consumers.
In vitro and in vivo toxicology testing, also known as toxicity testing, is conducted on finished products. We can devise a test program to identify the level of risk posed by a product and determine the safe level, and extent, of exposure to a substance. Testing also ensures compliance with relevant national, international, mandatory and voluntary regulations.
Our testing laboratories are strategically located, offer world-class facilities and are staffed by consumer goods testing experts.
If helpful, this is how they can contact SGS testing lab.
