What does KF94 mean?
The “KF” in KF94 stands for “Korean Filter,” and the “94” indicates a 94% filtration efficacy.
What is the difference between a KF94 and a KN95 mask?
- The shape is different.
A KF94 mask has a tent-like shape that creates a little pocket of extra space between your mouth and the mask. The KF94 comes with side flaps, which mold to the contour of your face, and an adjustable band around the bridge of your nose. These side flaps help close the gaps around the face and limit unfiltered air entry. KN95 masks, however, look more like a bird’s beak and stick out farther off the face.
- The country of origin
A KF94 mask is the Korean made equivalent to an N95 mask whereas a KN95 mask is the Chinese equivalent to an N95 mask.
In which ways are KN95 masks and KF94 masks the same?
- The materials used
- The filtration efficacy
A limited study published last year showed that the KF94 was comparable to the N95 in blocking SARS-CoV-2 particles. According to the South Korean government's standards, these masks filter 94% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size.
3. The intended use
Both the KN95 and the KF94 are intended for public use.
How do I know that your KF94 masks are genuine KF94 masks?
VIDA’s KF94 masks are made in South Korea by BK Healthcare. The South Korean government strictly enforces the high standards set for the KF94 and is rigorously testing KF94 masks for export. High fines are in place for any South Korean companies producing masks if any discrepancies are found. This policy has ensured a continuous, trustworthy quality level of KF94 masks produced in South Korea. All masks are tested by KITECH - The Korean Institute of Production and Technology. All VIDA's KF94 masks have successfully completed the Mask MB Filter (Electrostatic Filter) efficiency test from KITECH.
Is KF94 FDA Registered?
Yes, this is FDA-registered. Manufacturer's Registration No. 3018077434. CE-Certified.
Which mask would VIDA recommend?
VIDA recommends choosing a mask that has a high filtration efficacy, a great fit and is comfortable to wear. A mask performs best when it properly fits your particular face shape and size. The critical factor for all of these masks is the face seal. To check if your mask provides a tight seal, put it on and look at yourself in the mirror. You should not be able to see any gaps around your nose, cheeks, or under your chin. If the ear loops are too big, you can tighten them by tying knots or adding toggles or a strap that connects the loops behind your neck.

Why does the packaging vary (only some have KF94 or FDA Registered label and some don't)?
It’s a marketing/ branding decision of the supplier to adjust their packaging. It has nothing to do with a change in the content or any of the specifications we mentioned on our product pages.
The mask is a KF94. Passed all tests and is registered. Not all product info is on the packaging but that does not mean it's not compliant or 100% in line with all stated on our website. The supplier changed their packaging for different production lots. No change to the product in any way or change in standard or FDA registration.
