Every year, approximately 20 million tons of apparel is thrown away by consumers. This excludes the millions of tons that are disposed within retail channels when items do not sell as projected by the retail buyers.
At VIDA, we want to do our part to reverse this trend. We only produce items that have been purchased, which means that every item you buy will be specifically made for you. When we sourcing materials, we aim to use natural, high-quality materials. Thus, we want to use recycled materials or materials that are sustainably sourced.
All of our dyes are phthalates-free. The majority of our products is water-based to minimize the impact on our planet.
In production, we work with our suppliers to find the most optimal use of materials. For example, in combining different products with one supplier to optimize the fabric usage in both printing and cutting.
Even with our highest care and attention, a customer may occasionally receive an item with a quality or size issue. Unless the product is requested for quality feedback purposes, the customer does not have to return the item. Instead, we encourage the customer to gift or donate the product so we can create less waste in our world and share the gift of original artwork.
Regarding PPEs or Mask Sustainability Program:
- How does the program work? Your order will arrive with a prepaid label that allows you to send back your used masks to VIDA. Please save the outer envelope that the masks arrived in, as you will be reusing it. We encourage you to add in any mask, not just ours to this envelope. We can accept any brand of N95, KN95, KF94, 4-Ply, 3-Ply Masks or filters. Once you’ve used all your masks, place the used masks back in the envelope they arrived in, and place the prepaid return shipping label over the original label on the envelope. If you have lost your return label or someone else you know would like to recycle their masks, please reach out to hi@shopvida.com and our customer service representative will provide you with a label by email to print out at home. Please note we can not take any cloth masks, homemade masks, or medical waste.
- Can I recycle this product at my local recycling service?
- No. Due to regulations, Sustainable FDA Registered Masks with KN95 Protection cannot be recycled through your own municipal collection service, but only through this mail-back program.
- How do I recycle my product safely?
- Please place the used masks back in the envelope they arrived in, and place the prepaid return shipping label over the original label on the envelope.
- How are these masks safely recycled?
- The mask is made of virgin plastics only and the materials will be decontaminated and separated to flow into normal processes for plastic recycling. They will be made into low-end industrial products (for example, shipping pallets). They will not be used to make another mask.
- What do I do if I have lost my mailer or return label?
- If you have lost your original mailer, please use any other envelope/mailer to return your masks to us using the provided return label. If you have lost your return label, you can reach out to us here and we will provide you with a new label to print out at home.
- Are international orders eligible for the recycling program?
- No, we only accept domestic orders for our recycling program. The carbon footprint for recycling international orders in the USA would be worse than recycling it in your home country.
If you are an international customer who wants to recycle your mask, you will need to research recycling companies in your country to see if there are options for you to recycle your face masks safely.
